Mesothelioma is an aggressive cancer that affects the lining of the lungs, heart or abdomen. Caused primarily by the inhalation of asbestos fibers, it is most commonly diagnosed in older individuals that worked with asbestos in an industrial setting. Prognosis for mesothelioma is poor, but early detection and newer treatment methods have been given many patients hope for survival. To learn more, click on the link above.

Senior of the Month
Cheryl was born November 14, 1953 in Norfolk, Virginia. In 1969 Cheryl and her family moved to Browns Mills. Cheryl is a graduate of Pemberton Township High School. After High School, Cheryl attended Burlington County College and Burlington County VoTech. Cheryl worked at Buttonwood Hospital as a Senior Certified Nurses Aid for 34 years. She retired in 2006 then worked for Lumberton Township schools for 5 years and now works as a Bus Aid for Pemberton Township Schools. Cheryl likes to keep busy she is very active in her church, she is one of the administrators of children’s church. Cheryl says she likes coming to the Center because she has always enjoyed taking care of seniors, talking with them and now being one of them! Her hobbies include Bible Studies, teaching the kids at church arts and crafts and doing arts and crafts here. Cheryl also belongs to the Red Hatters and goes on local trips.
